What I can I say more about it. Everyone knows about this brand and most photographers dream to at least own once in their life.
I bought my first Leica this year, the Leica Q. I was truly blown away by that camera with the amazing clarity, colours, optical stabiliser and many other feature. Although it does have its flaws like a bit of distortion because its at 28mm, but I think it is still impressive. But I still l felt I have not truly experienced the true Leica because it wasn't full manual old school focus, lens wasn't changeable.
I finally decided to get my 2nd Leica, this time, the Leica that I have always dream about. The Leica M type 240. And a lens to go with that, my favourite 50mm. I couldn't decide which 50mm because I love the size of the 1.4 but obviously the 0.95 is the dream lens. But its so huge and more than double the price. After researching over the internet and I kid you not, I think I have viewed every single images on google images, 500 and flickr!! even viewed all the videos on youtube and vimeo. But I still couldn't decide what to get.
Finally after 2 weeks of research, I have decided to make the emotional decision, to get the best of what Leica can offer. Why? because I don't want to give excuse to myself that it could be better if I had this camera or lens, etc.. I wanted to improve and know that I have the best gear to work with, and if there was a problem, it would be me.
The day came, I drove up to Perth and got it from the Leica Boutique, Perth.
It has only been a few days, but I am loving.. I mean..really loving this combo. I have also bought a Nokton 35mm 1.2 as I have read a lot of good things about it. Yes, it was true, the bokeh was nearly as good as the 0.95 Noctilux and way cheaper than the Leica 35mm 1.4 Asph lens.
My dream Leica combo is now complete! (I think. :P)
1) Leica M240
Wow! I think my life is now complete.
Although I still love my Nikons and its a workhorse and as much as I would love to just shoot with my Leica's I knew it would not be possible, at least not for now.
My first firs shots from the Leica M Type 240 + 50mm Noctilux 0.95, my personal opinion on this combo? Its not for everyone. The focussing is so hard especially at 0.95, missed a lot of shots but when you get it right, its worth it. Weight is heavy no doubt, but coming from a DSLR background with 70-200 lens, its not that bad. For travel, would I carry that around, YES, because i know I don't think I can get a better lens than this.
My advice, if you can afford it, get it!. If you realised that this is not for you, sell it later. The 2nd hand value for this lens is very good. Or at least, that is what you tell your partner or wife. :P
