I just received the Nikon 105mm 1.4 today and had 5 mins to do a test shot and put it all together just for your viewing and comparison.
I have taken with 4 different cameras (not in order). The new Nikon 105mm 1.4E , the Nikon 58mm 1.4, Leica Q & Huawei P9 Phone Camera. I changed it to Black and White to avoid distraction. All these are straight out of camera and just converted to BW.
Now.. my first thought on this camera is..heavy!. It doesn't look heavy but it is. Build quality, I would say pretty much the same as my Nikon 58mm 1.4, just bigger, thicker and heavier.
The bokeh, honestly, I see slight difference with my 58mm but its a bit of a different look if you look carefully. Although if you look at it first glance, may just look nearly the same, but it looks and feel like a 70-200 2.8 shot at 200mm, just creamier I guess. I still like my 58mm 1.4 but I would use the 105 mainly to probably replace my 70-200. I will try it out this weekend to see how it goes for wedding portraits and details. Hopefully the colours would be good as well.
Now the answer:
A) Huawei P9 Phone Camera
B) Nikon 105mm 1.4
C) Nikon 58mm 1.4
D) Leica Q
Some New updates shot with the 105 1.4E
